Weekdays 6:00AM-10:00AM

A pair of police officers in North Carolina was in the right place at the right time to save a driver trapped in an overturned vehicle in a ditch filled with water. Greenville officers Justin Lavin and Christopher Santiago were both driving to work when they saw the vehicle that had crashed and was submerged in the water.

They immediately rushed to rescue the driver, who was still trapped inside. “Without hesitation, the officers quickly and selflessly jumped into action,” the Greenville Police Department explains in a Facebook post, “Breaking a window to the vehicle so they could gain access.”

The officers worked together to free the driver and pull her from the vehicle, “undoubtedly saving her life,” according to police. Lavin and Santiago will be honored as heroes in a formal ceremony of recognition for “going above and beyond” to rescue the woman in what the department calls “a selfless act of service.”
