Australian Bushfires - The Australian fires began in December of 2019 but continued into 2020. They led to 47 million acres being burned, several people dying, and over 500 million animals killed.

A woman managed to escape a house fire thanks to her persistent pet. She was asleep in her two-story log cabin home in Crooked River Ranch, Oregon, and had no idea that a blaze had broken out downstairs.

Luckily, one of her three dogs was aware and determined to alert her. According to Crooked River Ranch Fire & Rescue, the dog repeatedly jumped on her bed until she woke up. Once she realized the home was engulfed in flames, she and the dogs were all able to escape unhurt.
