Facebook content creators can breathe a little easier.
The social media giant revealed it won’t take a piece of the revenue generated by creators on various things like paid online events until at least 2023. The announcement was made yesterday by CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
That includes keeping paid online events, fan subscriptions, badges and Facebook’s upcoming independent news product free for content creators to add to.
Zuckerberg took a big shot at Apple, which is struggling since internal info revealed the less than stellar treatment of creators, saying any revenue share Facebook puts in place “will be less than the 30-percent that Apple and others take.”
When Facebook does start taking a cut, Zuck has that covered. “We’re also launching a new payout interface so creators can see how different companies’ fees and taxes are impacting their earnings.”
