We may have spent more time than ever at home in the last year and half, but that apparently didn’t stop people from littering.
NC Dept. of Transportation crews just released some pretty shocking numbers; so far this year, 6.3 million pounds of litter has been picked up from roadsides in the state.
NCDOT says that those numbers put us on track to surpass the 2019 record of 10.5 litter collected.
Littering seems like such an obvious this to not do, but clearly many people are still throwing their trash on the ground. We need to protect the Earth, and throwing your litter on the ground seems like the most blatant way to show how little you care.
Please remember to secure your trash, and properly dispose of it so we can keep out local roads, and the Earth clean!
You can actually report littering if you see it at NCDOT’s Swat-A-Litterbug app.
Another way to help is through NCDOT’s Adopt A Highway program that allows businesses, organizations, and individuals to sponsor litter removal along roadsides.
Lets do our part and keep out planet clean this year, Charlotte!
