What a crazy week this has been. Between some unusually colder weather, and a gas shortage that caused panic buying, that then caused a WORSE gas shortage… I think it’s safe to say thank God it’s Friday!!!

If you are lucky enough to actually have some gas in your car this weekend, and are looking for some fun things to do. Here’s a list of some fun events happening around town you can check out:


University City Food Truck Friday 

  • Armored Cow Brewing at 8821 JW Clay Boulevard #1
  • This week’s truck lineup includes: Another!? Food Truck, Hot Tamale, Mike’s Vegan CookOut, Cremoso Cheesecake Company, and Scratch Kitchen Clt, plus vendors from the Starving Artist Market, and music from Hidden Ragalia.

Benefit India Yoga Fundraiser 

  • Khali Yoga Center 1210 East 36th St
  • The class will be limited to 67 people, on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Skates and Bubbles at Unknown Brewing 

  • 1327 S Mint St.
  • Screamin’ Wheels and Blades is back with another pop-up roller rink for South End Wine and Hops Fest. Go for a spin on the outdoor skating rink, enjoy jams from DJ Mekoh, then sip on some tasty sparkling wines.

Cordovas and Great Peacock

  • Heist Brewery at 1030 Woodward Ave.
  • Heist Brewery has Nashville-based Americana group Great Peacock, along with co-headliner group Cordovas.

Uptown Farmers Market 

  • 300 S. Davidson St.
  • Shop from over 40 vendors selling fresh fruits and veggies, meat and poultry, and artisan foods and baked goods.

Uptown Sweat 

  • 408 N. Tryon Street
  • Uptown Sweat is a free, all-day fitness event at Victoria Yards in Uptown where workouts are set to a live DJ and led by six of Charlotte’s best fitness instructors.

Spring Goal Hike Series 

  • Reedy Creek 2900 Rocky River Rd.
  • Hike the trails at Reedy Creek then stop halfway for a mini-coaching session to put you in the mindset to tackle your goals. There will be granola bar and juice sampling from Solar Juicing Company. Bring a water bottle and journal.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Fundraiser

  • Now in its 10th year,  men walk a mile in high-heeled shoes to raise awareness about domestic and sexual violence in the Charlotte community. Register as an individual or a team and prizes will be awarded for highest heels and most likes on a social media post/video among other categories.

Yoga & mimosas 

  • Ballantyne Park
  • Flow outdoors in Ballantyne each Saturday in April and May, powered by Northwood Office. YogaSix Ballantyne will lead a 60-minute, all levels yoga flow followed by mimosas to jumpstart your weekend.

  • The 7th edition of this event may look a little different this year but the wine and craft brews will still be flowing. Enjoy all-day samples of great drinks, live music and more in the outdoor space of Unknown Brewing and Craft Tasting Room.

Walking On A Dream Indie dance & Indie rock party

  • Drive-in to The Music Yard and dance to all your Indie rock and Indie dance favorites from artists such as Tame Impala, Empire of the Sun, MGMT and Passion Pit.

Science on Screen: War Games

  • Discovery Place Science
  • Adults’ only night at Discovery Place Science. View the museum’s latest traveling exhibition, “Artificial Intelligence: Your Mind & the Machine,” a keynote from IBM’s Phaedra Boinodiris and a screening of the 1983 film “War Games.”

On Set Cinema movie night

  • On Set Cinema takes movie nights to the next level by hosting screenings at the sites where iconic scenes were filmed. For this week’s screening, head to West Charlotte to catch a screening of “The Rage: Carrie 2” at the “party house” from the film.

Charlotte Symphony: Branford Marsalis Plays Ibert

  • Belk Theater will welcome a live audience for the first time since March 2020! Jazz legend and three-time Grammy Award winner Branford Marsalis will join the orchestra in performing Ibert’s Concertino da camera and Schulhoff’s jazz-inspired Hot Sonate.

Art in the Garden Tours

River Jam at the Whitewater Center

  • Bring a blanket or a chair and head to the River Jam stage to enjoy some live music by the whitewater rapids. Taking the stage this Friday is alt-indie group Yam Yam, and on Saturday they’ll have Austin Plaine.

Knights vs. Norfolk Tides
