A Dutch social media influencer with Down syndrome is breaking barriers with a new magazine cover. Enya, the 26-year-old behind the beauty and style Instagram account Downsyndrome_Queen, is the cover girl for the latest edition of “Glamour” Netherlands.

“I cannot describe in words how much this means to me,” Enya says. This is not only her first magazine cover, but the first major cover in the Netherlands featuring someone with Down syndrome. Last year, the brand’s U.K. cover featured British model Ellie Goldstein, who also has Down syndrome.

Enya started her Instagram account, which has more than 68-thousand followers – with encouragement from her sister, who’s a big social media fan and didn’t see any influencers with intellectual disabilities. Her goal for the page is breaking stereotypes and that’s what she hopes her magazine cover does, too. “Let this not be a one-off fun thing for other companies, but rather a doorway that leads to many possibilities,” Enya says. “I hope that we will become standard in the fashion and beauty industry.”
