Charlotte’s City Council just passed a new pilot program, which will allow 18 electric buses to take to the Charlotte streets. The buses will come from three different companies. The goal of the program is to see which buses can hold an electric charge the longest. Expect to see these buses for at least the next 12-18 months.
The city has chosen the CATS property off South Tryon Street as a headquarters for the electric buses. There, the city will be using charging equipment to track which buses are most effective.
This electric bus program is a step taken to reach the city’s goal of 100% zero-carbon sources by 2030.
Do you support this pilot program? Do you regularly take the bus system here in Charlotte?
