Gov. Roy Cooper announced that he anticipates all mandatory capacity restrictions and mass gathering limits to be lifted by June. This is due to the current NC COVID-19 trends and continued vaccinations. Masks will still be encouraged but probably only mandatory while in indoor places.
More details will be announced next week.

Dr Mandy Cohen says if 2/3rds of North Carolinians get shots, North Carolina will have a normal summer with public gatherings, fireworks, parades and no masks. Currently about 50% of eligible North Carolinians have gotten at least one dose— Joe Bruno (@JoeBrunoWSOC9) April 21, 2021
It’s simple. Get a shot and the masks go away. ~50% of North Carolinians have at least 1 dose. Just need to get to ~67%. The shots are available. This could end soon if people act with some urgency.— Joe Bruno (@JoeBrunoWSOC9) April 21, 2021
