A “How I Met Your Mother” sequel series titled “How I Met Your Father” is coming to Hulu. According to Variety, the 10 episode series will star Hilary Duff as Sophie, the lead character.

I’ve been incredibly lucky in my career to play some wonderful characters and I’m looking forward to taking on the role of Sophie,” said Duff to Variety. “As a huge fan of ‘How I Met Your Mother,’ I’m honored and even a little nervous that Carter and Craig would trust me with the sequel of their baby…”

The premise of the series is Sophie tells her son the story of how she met his father. We are transported back to 2021 and see Sophie and her close group of friends figure out who they are and what they want in life.

The new series comes from “This Is Us” co-showrunners and “Love, Victor” co-creators Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, who are writing and producing the series.  Duff will also produce in addition to starring as the lead role. “How I Met Your Mother” creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas are also onboard as executive producers.

“How I Met Your Mother” aired on CBS for nine seasons from 2005-2014 and starred Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Segel, and Alyson Hannigan.
