LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - JUNE 02: A protester holds a sign with an image of George Floyd during a peaceful demonstration over Floyd’s death outside LAPD headquarters on June 2, 2020 in Los Angeles, California. California Governor Gavin Newsom has deployed National Guard troops to Los Angeles County to curb unrest which occurred amid some demonstrations. Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was taken into custody for Floyd's death and charged with third-degree murder.

A teacher in Texas had to toss out a project after huge backlash from parents.

The Cedar Hill Independent School District teacher had her freshman students watch the Derek Chauvin trial and act as jurors. That included watching graphic video including when Chauvin put his knee on George Floyd’s neck.

Parents were outraged and complained…then the teacher gave them the project outline. The kids were told to follow jury instructions and not talk to anyone about watching the case.

The school district shut down the assignment and said it had not been approved and was not age appropriate.
