WESTWOOD, CA - DECEMBER 05: Rege-Jean Page arrives at the premiere Of Universal Pictures' "Mortal Engines" at Regency Village Theatre on December 5, 2018 in Westwood, California.

Okay, Bridgerton fans, this may make you cry because it made me tear up…just a little.

Of course, over the weekend, the Bridgerton Instagram account posted this picture of the show’s fictional gossip column from Lady Whistledown.

Essentially, it announced that one of their lead actors, Regé-Jean Page, AKA the absolute dreamboat who played the Duke of Hastings, will not be returning for Season 2 of Bridgerton.

According to People, here’s how Regé-Jean Page said the producers of Bridgerton had originally pitched the part to him: “It’s a one-season arc. It’s going to have a beginning, middle, end — give us a year” (People.com).  He spoke on how he believed Simon Basset’s entire story wrapped up nicely at the end of Season 1 and so there’s not really any reason to remain in the series. I mean, he did marry the love of his life and had a baby despite starting the series wanting to do none of that. Soooo I feel like he’s got a point.

AHHHH! But it’s so sad though. I know. It’s absolutely devastating. But, TBH, despite this, you couldn’t catch me missing the next season. Instead, it’ll mostly focus on Lord Anthony Bridgerton and his search for love. I’m also sensing quite a bit of character development for him as well. I guess we Bridgerton fans will just have to wait and see!! No release date has been given yet for Season 2, but I know that I can’t wait!!

Regé-Jean Page did make a post about his leaving and how he will always remember his time on the show:

Ugh, don’t you just love him! He will be so missed! Read more about what he said here.
