What a crazy story! Florida native Ernesto Sorzano won the $500,000 Powerball prize over the weekend with numbers he got from a fortune cookie! After ordering his favorite Chinese take-out meal, fried rice with shrimp, Sorzano used the fortune cookie numbers to buy the winning ticket! He bought the ticket from the 7-Eleven on Sam Furr Road in Huntersville. I’ve got to start paying attention to my fortune cookie numbers more!

On Monday, he picked up his prize of $353,751 after taxes from the lottery headquarters in Raleigh.

Soon, Sorzano is moving from Estero, Florida to Huntersville, NC so he plans to buy a new house here with the money.

Do you buy lottery tickets? Have you ever gotten your numbers from somewhere crazy like a fortune cookie?
