It's no secret that brick-and-mortar shops have been struggling because of Amazon and other online retailers. Then, with the coronavirus pandemic, it was the nail in the coffin for many stores.
Malls have been at an even bigger disadvantage due to coronavirus restrictions, and when you walk through a mall in Charlotte now, it is not hard to tell that they are in trouble. Northlake Mall is one of the prominent malls in the Charlotte area, and they just closed a HUGE storefront.
Dicks Sporting Goods at Northlake Mall in Charlotte has closed their two-level store. This is one of the biggest storefronts at Northlake Mall.
That's not the only store at Northlake to close. There are many storefronts and kiosks that are staying empty right now.
I'm definitely concerned that malls may become a thing of the past. People shop in different ways now, and the idea of going to the mall to get a new outfit just isn't the same as it was 10-15 years ago.
