If you’re from the South then you definitely know the department store, Belk…or, depending on just how Southern you are it’s ‘Belks.’
Unfortunately, the popular department store chain announced this week that they have filed for bankruptcy. The North Carolina-based retailer plans to keep its stores open and maintain operation as it restructures under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. The store has been open since 1888 and now has nearly 300 stores in 16 states…65 being in North Carolina alone.
