We hear it all the time, about local people winning the lottery but it just always seems to good to be true! That’s exactly what Terri Watkins, of Durham, thought when she received a phone call saying that she had won $1 million in the North Carolina Education Lottery!

Terri Watkins is a Durham nurse who works in the COVID unit at a long-term care facility. Without her even needing to explain, we can only imagine what a tough year it has been for her.

Her entry was chosen from over half a million entries in the final $300,000,000 Supreme Riches second-chance drawing on Wednesday.

Terri isn’t going to blow all the money right away, but did mention to ABC 11 that a new home sounds nice to her!

Congrats Terri! Thank you for what you do!
