The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives believe that the grenade was purchased from Fancy Flea Antique Mall in Shallotte, North Carolina back in June, which is about 3 hours away from Charlotte.
The mall stated that there was only one other grenade that was sold the next day by the same vendor, but that similar-style grenade has yet to be accounted for.
