A teenager in Virginia was killed two days before Christmas after a World War II-era hand grenade exploded. The grenade was thought to be inactive. The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives believe that the grenade was purchased from Fancy Flea Antique Mall in Shallotte, North Carolina back in June, which is about 3 hours away from Charlotte.

The mall stated that there was only one other grenade that was sold the next day by the same vendor, but that similar-style grenade has yet to be accounted for.
