When the temperature drops, it becomes a little too easy to abandon your workout routine. With the darkening sky and the chilly wind, the season seems to be begging you to stay indoors and hibernate on your couch. Health experts urge, however, that exercise should be part of your daily routine, no matter the weather.  Consider leaving your wallet at home and using the mall as an indoor track. It gets you out of the house and moving. A lot of the local malls have groups and walking clubs. You can track your progress and meet a few friends along the way.  Set up a small home gym. Check your local marketplace for used work out equipment. You can walk on a treadmill while watching your favorite shows on Netflix. Another bonus is that it’s right there so whenever you have a spare moment you can do a short work out. Follow DesiVentures on YouTube if you need a workout buddy.

Don’t have room for equipment in the house? Try virtual work outs. There are lots of videos online for all fitness levels. At-home workouts have advanced a long way since fitness videos and DVDs first became available: now, personal trainers and yoga teachers are increasingly taking to social media to post their fitness content. Find weekly live-streamed classes and even virtual one-on-one sessions, and you’ve got plenty to keep you occupied and active for the duration of winter.  Remember, everything counts: From vacuuming the house to shoveling snow, remember that many activities count toward being fit. Even if you don’t have a workout planned for the day, try to think of some way to be active. The goal is simply to get up off the couch and keep it movin!
