Since snack consumption has increased during this crazy pandemic year of 2020 a lot of new products showed up to satiate consumers’ tastes, but not all of them were good ideas – according to the health-oriented folks at “Eat This, Not That.” Here’s a list of their 10 worst offenders in 2020:

  • Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Popcorn – a sodium loaded snack that leaves your fingers with bright red residue (160 calories, 11g fat, 320 mg sodium, 13g carbs and 2g protein)
  • Dunkaroos Cookie Dough – ready to bake cookie dough with loads of sugar and high fructose corn syrup (per cookie 170 calories, 7g fat, 100mg sodium, 26g carbs and <1g protein)
  • Pringles Baconator Chips – Pringles and Wendy’s team up for a fat-filled salty offering (150 calories, 9g fat, 220mg sodium, 16g carbs, 1g protein)
  • Pop-Tarts Pretzel Cinnamon Sugar – not much fiber or anything else nutritional in this version (390 calories, 13g fat, 560mg sodium, 65g carbs, 4g protein per pack)
  • M&M’s Fudge Brownie – a fudge brownie inside an M&M sounds great but watch out for the sugar! (140 calories, 6g fat, 25mg sodium, 20g carbs, <1g protein)
  • Ben & Jerry’s Netflix & Chill’d – since Netflix got even more popular this year they teamed up with Ben & Jerry’s to offer this flavor of peanut butter ice cream, salty pretzel swirls and fudge brownie flavors. One serving is almost 400 calories, equivalent to 3 Original Glazed Krispy Kreme Donuts
  • Super Pretzel Soft Pretzel Bites – snack size bites that sound good, but 3 of them pack 550mg of sodium, then they are filled AND covered with cheese—not a good choice
  • Little Bites Cookies & Creme Muffins – devoid of fiber and high in sugar (190 calories, 8g fat, 170 mg sodium, 27g carbs, 2g protein)
  • Klondike Donuts – a combination of a frozen dessert bar and a donut that makes for a sugar bomb. Per strawberry donut are 230 calories, 12g fat, 50mg sodium, 28g carbs and 2g protein
  • Pop-Tarts Frosted Chocolatey Churro – another Pop-Tart that you should probably take a pass on (400 calories, 13g fat, 330mg sodium, 68g carbs, 4g protein)
