When a couple has been together for a long time and one partner is ready to move things forward and get married, but the other isn’t, it can become a problem. Some people deliver an ultimatum or go as far as ending the relationship for good. But one woman took a different approach with this dilemma. After eight years of dating her boyfriend and not getting a proposal, one 26-year-old woman has decided to sue ion order to make him commit.

Gertrude Ngoma has been dating 28-year-old Herbert Salaliki for eight years and she’s tired of waiting for him to pop the question. So she took the unusual move of taking him to court over it. She feels like he’s wasting her time and she’s had enough, telling the judge in their country, Zambia, that Herbert has “never been serious” and that she “deserves to know” about their future. She also told the court she doubts her partner’s loyalty and is suspicious he may be talking to another woman.

So what does the boyfriend have to say in his defense? He says it’s not a lack of interest that’s causing his delay, it’s a lack of money…and the fact that he doesn’t feel she gives him enough attention. But the judge didn’t step in the middle of this relationship issue. Instead, he advised the couple to go home and sort it out themselves.
