Why A New Season Makes You Want To Change Your Hair

I am notorious for changing my hair color. I have had EVERY hair color known to man kind. Blonde, light brown, dark brown, red, you name it, I’ve had it….

I’m obsessed with these!!!

I am notorious for changing my hair color. I have had EVERY hair color known to man kind. Blonde, light brown, dark brown, red, you name it, I've had it.

Now that it’s PSL and apple picking weather, are you itching to switch up your hair color for something more autumnal? If the changing seasons make you want to makeover the shade of your strands, you’re not alone and it turns out there’s a good reason.

We tend to associate dark, moody colors with colder weather and brighter hues with warmer weather. That’s why you see so many people going blonde in the summer and turning to “cinnamon” or “spiced chestnut” colors in the fall and winter. It’s the same for fashion, nail colors and even our hair and it helps us feel like we’re transitioning into the new season.

Michelle Cleveland, hairstylist and owner of Hair Addict Salon in New Jersey, sums it up perfectly, “When the weather changes, so does our mindset.” She says most of her clients want to “bring down the depth” of their hair color as the weather cools off. Ready to go darker yourself? Cleveland’s advice is to start small, rather than make a bold change, like adding some lowlights at first to see how you like it.
