NC in Path of Hurricane Zeta Here’s What to Expect
Hurricane Zeta strengthened to a hurricane overnight. It’s currently over the Yucatan Penninsula and will make US landfall sometime in the next 24 hours. After landfall on the gulf coast, Zeta is expected to make a sharp right turn. Hurricane watches are already in effect for the coasts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Zeta is hitting an area of the Gulf Coast that’s already weathered several serious storms.
What’s this mean for our area? “Zeta will likely bring periods of moderate to heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and the chance of severe storms to portions of the state in the day Wednesday through early Friday,” North Carolina Emergency Management said.
