The EpiCentre is changing drastically before our eyes. The uptown dining and drinking destination looks like a ghost town following numerous tenant closures and evictions in 2020. And the hits keep coming.
WSOC-TV reports that the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office served five evictions for non-payment of rent this week. The businesses affected were Blackfinn Ameripub, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Rooftop 210, Suite, and Vida Cantina.
According to the report, notices from the sheriff’s office were posted on the doors of Blackfinn and Moe’s. Rooftop 210 has been cleared out, and there are locks on the doors of Suite.
This latest development leaves the EpiCentre with only a few businesses still open. They include CVS Pharmacy, Insomnia Cookies, Mortimer’s Cafe & Pub, and World of Beer Bar & Kitchen.
Kiss 95.1 and our Beasley Media Group sister stations have hosted a lot of fun events at the EpiCentre over the years, from concert pre-parties to singing competitions. It’s sad to see the once-vibrant entertainment center fall on such hard times. No word yet on what the future might hold for the uptown landmark.
