XFL Announces Return Plans
The XFL professional football team isn’t returning until 2022. Co-owner Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson took to Twitter to make the announcement last night and the league put out a statement shortly after.
XFL president Jeffrey Pollack said part of the reason for waiting is to ensure the safety of fans and players but also because of new ownership. Pollack says it is “simply too big to rush back.”
The Rock was among a group of investors who bought the league shortly after it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April. There were talks of trying to have a season in 2021 in a bubble style approach, but those plans were scrapped.
