The MRL Morning Show

Weekdays 6:00AM-10:00AM

Did you know that more than 60 million households in the U.S. have a dog? My household is part of that!

More likely than not, if I’m going somewhere…I want Finley (my pup) to come with me. I mean why wouldn’t I? He’s a good boy and he’s my best friend! Plus…he loves it. We may be amid a pandemic, but there are still smart travel choices you can make to ensure your safety while still being able to have fun and explore.

The experts at Vacasa have compiled a look at some of the safest and best travel options for people and their dogs…and a North Carolina spot is #1 on the list! It’s….(drum roll)…Sugar Mountain, North Carolina! How cool!?

It makes sense. Sugar Mountain is so close to Boone, Grandfather Mountain, etc. I frequent Boone several times a year and go snowboarding at Sugar Mountain, and my pup always goes with me!

Here’s the full top 10 list:

  1. Sugar Mountain, NC
  2. Sunriver, Oregon
  3. Folly Beach, SC
  4. Hilton Head, SC
  5. Mammoth Lakes, California
