Even if COVID-19 is still running rampant by then the postponed Tokyo Olympics will take place in 2021.
It appears next year’s postponed Olympics are etched in stone despite the coronavirus pandemic. International Olympic Committee Vice President John Coates said the events will happen “with or without COVID.”
They are set to kick off in July after the Tokyo 2020 summer games were rescheduled due to the health crisis. Coates added they will be known the “Games that conquered COVID.”
Plan options that officials are sitting on include limited spectators and simplifying the opening and closing ceremonies.
