LUENEBURG, GERMANY - APRIL 07: The supermoon is seen in the night sky on April 07, 2020 in Lueneburg, Germany. The supermoon is visible as the full moon coincides with the satellite in its closest approach to Earth, which makes it appear brighter and larger than other full moons. Normally the September moon is referred to as the Harvest moon. It got its name because of how close it is to the autumn equinox. This year, the Corn Moon will occur in September. This happens once every 3 years when the Harvest Moon occurs in October. The Corn Moon name is attributed to Native Americans because it marked when corn was supposed to be harvested. At the peak of harvest, farmers can work late into the night because the moon gives off so much light.

This year, the Corn Moon will peak Wednesday, September 2nd.
