At this point, not much can surprise me in 2020…but this is definitely terrifying.

As you can see President Trump abruptly leaves his briefing. Later we learned this was because a man was shot by a Secret Service officer near the White House on Monday.
The Washington Post reveals that the 51-year-old man had approached an officer posted near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW around 5:50pm and said he had a weapon. Chief of the Uniformed Division of the Secret Service, Thomas Sullivan, said the man ran aggressively toward the officer and withdrew an object from his clothing. Sullivan said when the man crouched in a “shooter’s stance” (as if about to fire) – that is when the Secret Service officer shot him, striking him in the torso.

The man was not further identified. President Trump returned and explained the situation.
