By now, I'm sure your Instagram feed has been flooded with black and white photos of women using the hashtag #ChallengeAccepted.

At first, I thought this was just about women showing the support of other women, which is awesome!  But as I looked further into it, the challenge has a much different origin, a message that is very important to share.

The origins of the challenge started in Turkey in order to raise awareness about the high rates of femicide in the country. This Instagram post explains it pretty well...

As a public voice, this was a good reminder to me to always do my research on a trend to make sure I am doing my part to share the right message! It also reminded me how powerful we are when we put our voices altogether. Hopefully, if you are participating in the challenge from now on, this will help inspire you to support not only the women in your own personal life but the women across the world who do not have the same safeties and luxuries as we do.

Hi, I'm Cameron! I was born and raised in North Carolina. I'm a super tall redhead who is always down for tacos, enchiladas, and margaritas. Okay, so Mexican food is my personal favorite, but I’m not saying no if you’re trying to eat out on the town anywhere. I I am on air for middays but also the Program Director for Kiss 95.1. I enjoy connecting with Kiss 95.1’s amazing listeners and being able to bring all of my favorite things like food, wine, and life online into digital content.
