Are you looking for a fascinating summer read? Perhaps you want an exclusive look into the big names of the last 50 years of fashion? If so, take cover in The Chiffon Trenches, a New York Times Bestseller about Andre Leon Talley, and the challenges faced on his road to becoming one of the biggest names in fashion.

The Chiffon Trenches is a memoir that chronicles the fabulous and tumultuous life of African American fashion journalist, Andre Leon Talley, and his ascension into stardom. I won’t give too much away here, but the book chronicles his journey from a young boy growing up in Durham, NC to become the editor-at-large of Vogue Magazine. Talley talks about the prejudice faced as a black man in the fashion industry as well as what he learned about how whiteness works. It’s truly a fascinating and inspiring read. Check it out and let us know what you think.

Have you always had an eye for fashion?  What if you’re 40, 50, or 60 years old and desire to take a stab at fashion designing? I think it’s a marvelous idea if you do! You might want to begin with Googling the history of fashion, how trends are made, and on your journey, you might get inspired to grab your sewing machine or sketch pad out of the attic.
