How Is Working From Home Affecting Relationships? 30% Are Doing Better!

Working from home is something that some people had to get used to. I saw yesterday on social media that one of my friends is celebrating her 100th work-from-home day. That’s over 3 months! A lot of people have been told by their employers that there is no expected return date. I know here at the radio station, it is still bare bones and encouraged for our sales staff to work from home. Another friend of mine said they will be working from home for the rest of 2020.
With that being said, working from home can spark a number of issues and concerns…romantic relationships being one of them.
Fishbowl asked 16,847 professionals, “How has working from home affected your romantic relationship?”
Professionals could answer with one of five options:
- Led to breakup or divorce
- Strained, but still together
- No impact
- Positive impact
- Not in a relationship
Here’s what they discovered overall:
- 28.68% said WFH during the pandemic has had a positive impact on their relationship
- 25.29% answered that they were not in a relationship
- 23.08% said WFH had no impact
- 16.28% said it strained their relationship
- 6.67% said it let to breakup or divorce
When breaking it down to North Carolina…
- 29.53% said WFH during the pandemic has had a positive impact on their relationship
- 28.91% answered that they were not in a relationship
- 18.24% said WFH had no impact
- 17% said it strained their relationship
- 6.33% said it led to a breakup or divorce
