Restaurants in North Carolina have started reopening to dine-in customers and the first day back was a really good one for employees of Famous Toastery in Wilmington. Servers were shocked to find one couple left a $1-thousand tip on their $43 breakfast bill.
The generous tippers want to remain anonymous, but restaurant owner Jamie Kloiber says they were a local couple who were dining there for the first time and were very complimentary of the staff and the food. Their receipt shows they initially left a $20 tip, which would’ve still been well above 20%, but they crossed that out and left a thousand along with the note, “Bless you all!”
Employees in the front and the back of the restaurant chose to split the tip, so even the guys in the kitchen got part of it. “There’s so much kindness in the world,” Kloiber says.
