I can’t believe he’s gone. I’ve known Cam Newton personally since I first hosted an event for his foundation in 2012. Since then, I’ve hosted countless fundraising events with Cam. His assistant and director of his foundation loved me. They loved the fact that I had the ability to MC with Cam and “push him along” if he got too chatty. I wasn’t intimidated by Cam, he was a strong presence but his personality was always friendly.
My absolute favorite moment hosting for Cam came during his 2017 Kids Rock Gala. I was co-hosting with Michael Strahan. My main concern was Michael saying my name correctly… “May-knee.” He was amazing, the evening was amazing and included a bidding war between Josh Norman and Greg Olsen for a week long stay in Mexico at a private home. It went for 90,000 dollars I think all for his kids charity right here in Charlotte.
