LVMH, the company behind brands like Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Dior, will be using their perfume factories to produce hand sanitizers.

As Vogue explains, is in response to the hand sanitizer shortage in France due to coronavirus. Per Time, New York is using prisoners and prison labor to provide hand sanitizer for their residents. As the NY governor explains, “New York has the capacity to make 100,000 gallons of NYS Clean a week, at the cost of $6 a gallon. It will be provided to government agencies, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), schools, and prisons. It will not be sold to the public, despite shortages and price surgesĀ in New York City and other affected areas of the state.”
