California Is Handing Out Free Money To Residents

A test run of Universal Basic Income (UBI) is coming to Stockton, California.

The pilot program will see 125 low income residents receiving $500 a month for 18 months. The controversial effort is being privately funded, but if taxpayers had to foot the bill, the cost would be upwards of three trillion bucks.

Stockton is the town that made history eight years ago for being the nation’s largest municipality to enter bankruptcy.

Time will tell if UBI works…
