It’s CIAA weekend in Charlotte, so clearly there are plenty of events going on around Charlotte this weekend. Whether you want to be front and center for CIAA, or you’re looking to spend your weekend avoiding that traffic; I’ve got you covered. Here is a list of all the events going on in Charlotte this weekend.

 

FRIDAY

Cinnaholic opening

  • 3050 Derita Road, Concord
  • You can get $1 cinnamon rolls to celebrate the new vegan bakery’s opening day.

Free For All Friday 

  • CoWork by Camden
  • Start the day with a free one-hour yoga class and breakfast from Poppy’s. Then, stick around because you can work at CoWork for free all day.

CIAA Fan Fest

  • Charlotte Convention Center
  • This free event include a high school band competition, a cheer leading competition, and national recording artist Layton Greene.
  • Noon to 9 p.m.
  • Free.

CIAA Step show

  • Charlotte Convention Center
  • Teams include the Alpha Phi Alphas from Winston-Salem State, the Delta Sigma Thetas from UNC Chapel Hill, and the Sigma Gamma Rhos from N.C. Central.
  • 6-10 p.m.
  • $20-$30.

SATURDAY

Pop’s Pickles/$3 Beer Day

  • Sycamore Brewing
  • Brews (Sungrown Lager, Strawberry Lemonade Gose, Juice Pops Fruit Ale, Special Brownies Stout) will be $3, and food trucks will have $3 food specials. Pop’s Pickles will also have six different pickle flavors available for tasting.

Hoppin’ 2 Year Anniversary Party

  • 1402 Winnifred St.
  • Festivities include the unveiling of a special beer amde in collaboration with Seaboard Brewing, live DJ all day, a photo booth, beer and wine specials, specialty beers on tap, food by Twisted Eats, and a scratch-off style giveaway (first 500 people will receive prizes).

Uncorked: Charlotte Wine Festival 

  • Discovery Place Science
  • Expect over 100 different wines and champagnes, gourmet food vendors, a custom photo booth, and interactive exhibits.

Dancing with the Stars: Live! – 2020 Tour

Particle Falls

  • UNC Charlotte Center City – 320 E. 9th St.
  • Particle Falls, an air quality exhibit by artist Andrea Polli, translates real-time pollution data into an animated light display, projected nightly onto UNC Charlotte Center City.

OH Well: treadHAPPY Pop-Up

  • Enjoy a FREE HIIT circuit and fun run, followed by snacks from Village Juice Co.

TyberPalooza

  • Tyber Creek
  • Live bands and DJs are there for a two-day music fest, a flip cup tournament, and more (free to enter, teams of five needed).

Southern Spring Home & Garden Show 

  • The Park Expo and Conference Center
  • Find all things home and garden, from granite countertop suppliers to roofing companies to blind and shutter shops.

2020 CIAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament

  • Spectrum Center
  • Twenty-two men’s and women’s games will be going on over the course of the weekend.

I Heart Rail Trail

  • South End Rail Trail
  • There are four interactive light installations spread along a one-mile stretch of the Rail Trail, from Carson Street to Sycamore Brewing.
