The 92nd annual Academy Awards were last night and as always it was a star-studded event! Hollywood came out in full force to the Dolby Theatre to celebrate the brightest stars on the silver screen and some celebrities definitely outshined the rest.
Sure the big winners of the night were Parasite, Brad Pitt and Joaquin Phoenix but before the awards were handed out all eyes were on the red carpet. Renee Zellweger, Kelly Ripa, and Geena Davis were some standouts but the pack leaders were Brie Larson, Scarlett Johansson, and Natalie Portman, in my opinion.
Brie Larson: Although there was a lot of red and metal on the carpet Brie looked gorgeous in this blush sparkling Celine cape gown. She was at the Oscars as a presenter and really served up an award-winning look with this classic and soft stunner.
Scarlett Johansson: Scar Jo walked the red carpet with her fiancee and they complimented each other perfectly. With the trend of “metals” on the carpet, one could get lost in the sea but not this starlit. Her silver twisted beaded Oscar de le Renta made her shine over the other muted metal gowns.
Natalie Portman: Maybe I was attracted to capes last night because I loved Natalie in her caped Dior black and gold evening wear. She was just there to enjoy and steal the show apparently.
Kristen Wiig: I’m not even sure what this was? Maybe it was an attempt at couture, that ended up looking more like a fan? I don’t hate the color red on her but the silhouette was so wrong that she’s probably on the hunt for a new stylist this week.
Sandra Oh: There is always one in the pack that just goes overboard and Sandra was that person last night. How many bells and whistles can you throw on a dress before it becomes tacky? Sandra Oh found that line. Sequins, bows, frill, structured sleeves, and a plunging neckline, the only thing this dress was missing was a slit. It was bad all the way around for me. I like that she was trying to glam it up but this was too much.
Florence Pugh: 3 words “80’s Prom Dress”. Sure it’s Louis Vuitton but just because a designer manufactured it doesn’t mean you have to wear it. I get it, she was a nominee for Little Women but she legit looked like she was going to prom not the Oscars.
