LauRen Made Roy Try Snails At Lunch
Thursday afternoon, Roy and I decided to go out to lunch together and although we didn’t end up at our original destination due to a mix up with our reservation, we did end up at one of the best brunch spots in the city according to Charlotte Agenda.
Charlotte Agenda recently asked 50,000 of there subscribers to rank Charlotte brunch hot spots and here are the results they came up with:
5) Zada Janes
4) Haberdish
3) 300 East
2) Tupelo Honey
1) Cafe Monte
Now, the parking at Philips Place isn’t the easiest but if you can find a parking spot, Cafe Monte is a great destination and although they have amazing crepes we both opted for a more traditional lunch. Roy decided to start with a charcuterie board while I ordered my favorite French dish, escargot.
Roy had never tried snails before and I take great pride in watching Roy try new things so I offered him a bite of mine. If you have never had escargot, don’t think too far into it. If you can get over the fact that you are eating snails it is quite delicious. They are cooked in a broth of butter and garlic, and are quite wonderful!
For our main courses, we dined on croque monsieur and the smoked salmon croissant, then finished off our meal with two macarons. The red velvet and raspberry macaroons were very fresh and the only thing missing was a giant cappuccino, but we were too close to nap time and Roy doesn’t drink coffee (He’s more of a hot chocolate guy).
