Lady Gaga’s Mental Health Journey Is The Focus Of New Oprah Documentary Series
Lady Gaga’s mental health journey is coming to the small screen with a little help from Oprah. The two are teaming up for Oprah’s previously announced Apple TV+ docuseries about mental illness and mental wellness, which will also feature Prince Harry.
A pink-haired Lady Gaga and Oprah officially announced their partnership over the weekend at the first stop of Oprah’s 2020 Vision Tour, which has the former talk show host interviewing celebrities. During their sitdown, Gaga opened up about being a sexual assault survivor, her history of self-harm, and why she wanted to speak out about her psychotic break.
“I can’t live a lie, I’m an authentic person, and here I am, I’m perfectly imperfect and we all are,” she told Oprah. “We all have our things that we go through. I felt like, ‘Why shouldn’t I share this when I share all of myself with the world all the time?’ And I could maybe help people that have had psychotic breaks.”
Oprah also asked Gaga about her long-awaited follow-up to 2016’s Joanne. “Don’t worry,” Gaga said when asked about new music. “I’ve been working on it for year … We’re having a self-care conversation, but I still am going to make music.”
