For the FIRST time in program history, the Charlotte 49ers football team is heading to a bowl game.

Charlotte is participating in the Bahamas Bowl against the Buffalo Bulls.

The Bulls are part of the  MAC East in the Mid-American Conference. They finished their season 7-5 and second in their division. Buffalo has previously been to three bowl games prior to today’s game, they have lost all three.

Coming into today, the game plan for the Bulls coming in is going to be to run the ball. In 10 of their games this year, Buffalo has passed the ball less than 30 times. The 49ers are going to have to come into the game able to read the offense and stop the run. The Charlotte 49ers started out the season 2-5 and then won their last five games; including victories against Marshall and North Texas.

Charlotte’s biggest threat to the Bulls is dual-threat quarterback Chris Reynolds. Reynolds can not only air the ball out but can run the ball if he needs to as well. He had 267 attempts, over 2,300 yards, and 21 touchdowns. He also was second on the team in rushing yards, behind Benny LeMay. In 139 rushing attempts, Reynold was just shy of 1,000 yards with 757 and six rushing touchdowns.

LeMay is also just as much of a threat as Reynolds. For the second time in his college career, LeMay rushed for over 1,000 yards and nine rushing touchdowns. LeMay has constantly been my favorite for best rusher in C-USA and many of the conferences that Charlotte plays.

Coming into today, the Bulls are a 6.5 point favorite, while the 49ers are technically the home team. The over/under for the game is sitting at 51.5 right now. Who do you think is going to win?
