People magazine talked to a "insider" in Gwen Stefani's circle and found out why the happy couple, who have been together for four years, have not yet tied the knot.

The insider said, “Blake was very serious about Gwen right from the start, and early on he thought about proposing.” However, Gwen is a practicing Roman Catholic and hopes to have a church ceremony.

The Roman Catholic Church does not allow remarriage after a divorce unless the earlier marriage is annulled, which can be a lengthy process, and the Stefani insider confirms a church ceremony “isn’t possible currently.” Stefani was previously wed to Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale for 13 years before the pair split in 2015.

The friend, who says the couple will wed someday adds, “They’re all very like-minded and comfortable with each other. Gwen brings this sparkle to the country world. Her love for Blake is clear, and she’s been embraced by everyone. They fall more and more in love with one another, and their happiness quotient keeps rising."

The couple have a new duet out on Blake's Fully Loaded: God's Country project out Friday 12/13 called "Nobody But You."

Shelton posted to Instagram a few days ago, "Here’s to a #FullyLoaded week!!!"
