Exercise does all kinds of great things for us from building strength to clearing our heads, but it turns out, there’s another benefit and it could be enough to get even the laziest couch potato up and moving. New research from Yale and Oxford universities finds that the endorphins you get from working out can make you happier than money.

For the study, scientists collected information about the physical activities and mental health of more than 1.2-million adults. They asked about their income and activity level and this question: “How many times have you felt mentally unwell in the past 30 days, for example, due to stress, depression, or emotional problems?”

The folks who exercised daily reported feeling down 35 days a year on average, with the non-active types feeling down for an additional 18 days. And it turns out, the physically active people feel just as good as those who aren’t active, but earn around $25,000 more a year. But the exercise-induced happiness only goes so far, the research finds more than three to five 30 to 60 minute sweat sessions a week could negatively impact mental health. So once again, moderation is key.
