Everyone’s favorite fast food chain Chick-fil-A made a major, and embarrassing, mistake this weekend, which forced them to apologize to their fans.

Yesterday was National Sandwich Day, and the chain sent out an email to loyalty members promoting the celebration, noting, “Calling all sandwich lovers some prefer it grilled, others fancy the original. No matter which Chick-fil-A sandwich you love, order yours on November 3 for National Sandwich Day.”

What Chick-fil-A failed to realize in their message was that National Sandwich Day was on a Sunday, which is when they are closed.

The chain eventually sent another email adding, “Well … this is awkward…We recently sent an email that included a message about National Sandwich Day…we didn’t realize it falls on Sunday when we are closed. We apologize for the confusion and hope to see you soon (Monday-Saturday).”

The flub didn’t go unnoticed by Chick-Fil-A’s rival, Popeye’s, which actually brought back their popular chicken sandwich yesterday.

I drove by the Popeyes on Wilkinson Boulevard yesterday and was truly shocked with how many people were in line waiting for the chicken sandwich. If you think that the chicken wars are over, they are far from it.
