Police say crisis negotiators have been speaking with the man in English and Spanish to figure out his motives.

A man climbed a 400-foot tower earlier today (09/18) at an Orlando television station. According to a local news source, police said they were called shortly before 11:15 a.m. after someone discovered a backpack in the area and noticed the man climbing the tower. Investigators believe the man is in his 30’s or 40’s and it is still unclear why he ascended the tower in the first place.

Two firefighters ascended the tower around 3:15 pm to try to deliver a safety harness to the man, but the firefighters descended the tower because the man began climbing to the top of it. As time went on the man began to climb back down the tower, but as a thunderstorm moved through the area he climbed back up. As of right now, it is unclear if the man is still on the tower.
