Always good to see local talent thriving!
Reneé Rapp, who is a Northwest School of the Arts grad, and also won a 2018 National High School Musical Theatre Award, just got a HUGE role!
Rapp is taking on the role of Regina George on Broadway's Mean Girls (based on the popular film). She will join the show for a summer engagement next month, and then officially step into the role full-time in September. The previous actress to portray Regina George on Broadway, Taylor Louderman, was nominated for a Tony for her performance.
What a huge opportunity!
Tina Fey, who is the writer for both the original movie, and the musical's book had this to say,
"It's hard to imagine anyone can replace the great Taylor Louderman, but just like high school, when one Queen Bee graduates, a new one spreads her wings, I think Reneé Rapp has everything it takes to thrill and terrify us all! I can't wait to see her do this.”
