Memorial Day weekend is finally here and here are all the fun events going on around town to help you kick off summer:

This weeks banging lineup includes Papi Queso Food Truck, TIN Kitchen, OooWee BBQ, Tikka Buzz Food Truck, GOGI, Queen City Chamo, Gyro Twins Truck and Queen City Sliders.

Friday Nights at Camp North End

1824 Statesville Ave.

Every Friday, they’ll have food, music and a few surprises for a laid-back hangout. Kids and leashed pets are welcome.

5-10 p.m.



Paddle to Table


You’ll have a guided paddle down the Catawba River by kayak or stand-up paddle board, take a short hike back, and get a chef-curated meal and there’s craft beer and wine for purchase.

Go to cheer on the Knights while they dominate the Durham Bulls,  stay for the firework show afterward

Biergarten Table Reverse Auction

The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery

They’re auctioning off Biergarten table sets (a table and two benches), starting at $50 a set, decreasing throughout the day until they’re gone. All profits from the auction will be donated to 24 Foundation and OMB’s 24 Hours of Booty team: Team Reeb.

Of course there will be vegan food vendors, but you can also expect kids activities, guest speaker, music, double dutch, collard green cooking competition, financial literacy resources and more.




Memorial Day Celebration


There are yoga (including SUP yoga) classes throughout the afternoon, and you can end the night with live music and a firework show.

The Comedy Zone

Gary Owen is a sell-out comedian, and he has his own show on BET.

2019 Circle K Speed Street presented by Coca-Cola

Romare Bearden Park

The three-day event includes entertainment, racing-related displays, kids’ activities, NASCAR autographs and more  all going on along Tryon Street. The nightly concerts start at 6:30 p.m. at Romare Bearden with Brothers Osborne headlining tonight. Openers are Caylee Hammack and Tyler Rich.
