Scientists have just made a HUGE breakthrough. Tel Aviv University researchers “printed” the world’s first 3D vascularized engineered heart using a patient’s own cells and biological materials.

“This is the first time anyone anywhere has successfully engineered and printed an entire heart replete with cells, blood vessels, ventricles and chambers,”

With heart disease being the leading cause of death in the US among both women, and men, this is a really big deal. You see, heart transplants are the only treatment for patients with end-stage heart failure, but as you can imagine, hearts to use as transplants aren't easy to come across.
While the 3D printed heart is small right now( the size of a rabbit's heart), in the next decade the technology will surely increase.
