It’s officially All-Star Weekend here in Charlotte, North Carolina! That means there are a lot of events taking place this past week heading into the weekend, which means a lot of tickets being sold and a lot of opportunities for a scam!
That is what a south Charlotte wife and mother claimed happened to her this past week. She wanted to go see Dave Chappelle at the Blumenthal Performing Arts so she paid a seller on Craigslist hundreds of dollars and in return never received the tickets.
This south Charlotte woman tells me she paid someone on Craigslist hundreds of dollars for tickets to see @DaveChappelle at the @BlumenthalArts tomorrow. The tickets never came. She thinks she was scammed! Story at 11 on @WBTV_News. pic.twitter.com/Nu2npllFia— Alex Giles WBTV (@AlexGilesNews) February 14, 2019
After giving $500 to the seller through the Apple Pay online payment service, the Charlotte woman received nothing in return. So that’s when Dave Chappelle took the matters into his own hands.
Last night @WBTV_News talked to a Charlotte couple scammed out of @DaveChappelle tickets. TODAY - he made it his mission to handle deliver them himself. Check out their reactions below ⤵️ pic.twitter.com/RO1StoAkv0— Courtney Cole (@imcourtneyjcole) February 15, 2019
Way to go Dave Chappelle!
Not only did @DaveChappelle hand over tickets to the folks who got scammed-he sat down to chat with them, did a full interview with us, and took time to take pictures with a bunch of people in the hotel restaurant. Truly a great dude. @WBTV_News pic.twitter.com/Bvaidvfpyc— Alex Giles WBTV (@AlexGilesNews) February 15, 2019
