Weekdays 10:00AM-3:00PM

Here’s how the city is celebrating.

Today is a big day in the Queen City!

On December 3, 1768, Royal Governor William Tryon signed a charter that assigned the boundaries to what would eventually become Charlotte.

The city will honor the anniversary with a huge party on the square at Trade and Tryon streets from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m! Streets around the square will close at 6 a.m. and will not reopen until 5 p.m.

Charlotte was named after the wife of English King George III, Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.

Happy 250th Charlotte!
