Residential fires during the holiday are more costly, and more deadly than any other time of the year.

Property loss during a holiday fire is 34% greater than in an average fire, and the number of fatalities per thousand fires is nearly 70% higher.

A few tips so that your household doesn't become a holiday fire statistic are as follows.

  1. Do not leave a cooking pot on the stove unattended.
  2. If you burn candles, make sure there is a foot space between the candle and anything that can burn.
  3. If you put up Christmas lights for decoration, inspect the light strings, and throw out any with frayed or cracked wires or broken sockets. Happy Holidays!
