We've made it through Halloween and now we've made it through Thanksgiving. What does that mean, exactly? We are in full Christmas mode! The music...the scents...the decorations...and you're probably in the process of finalizing your Christmas presents for the year. If you're a parent then you know that there's not many things sweeter then watching a child open up gifts under the tree on Christmas morning. A lot of kids ask Santa for a puppy, and maybe they keep asking year after year and this is the year you're thinking about caving and getting one for them but let's just triple check before you do
- Christmas is overwhelming. The holidays involve seeing your friends and family, traveling, a lot of different emotions and loud noises. Cesar Millan says unless you stop the whole Christmas process then you will be stressing out the dog.
- Instead of a dog for Christmas, plan a family trip then afterwards do some shelter puppy shopping
- Pets are family members. They should be part of your family for their entire lives so you need to make sure everyone in your family is onboard with your choice. You should be prepared just like if it was a baby.
- Explain to the kids what this gift means. Rescuing a dog will give them a whole new outlook on their choice.
